It is important to note that UNHON is a digital token and not the same as owning the actual stock; holders do not receive voting rights in UnitedHealth Group or a direct legal claim to the shares held by the custodian.

UNHON does not pay out cash dividends directly to user wallets. Instead, it utilizes a reinvestment model. When the underlying UnitedHealth stock pays a dividend, Ondo Global Markets receives it, handles the required taxes—including a standard 30% U.S. withholding tax—and reinvests the remaining proceeds to purchase more UNH stock. This process results in on-chain automated compounding, where each UNHON token represents a progressively larger fraction of the underlying stock over time.

Every UNHON token is backed 1:1 by actual UnitedHealth stock held in regulated, bankruptcy-isolated accounts with licensed U.S. custodial broker-dealers. Ondo Finance employs a bankruptcy-remote structure, ensuring the backing assets are legally segregated from the company's corporate assets. For transparency, Ondo provides daily reports and utilizes system integrations with custodians to verify that the tokens circulating on-chain match the physical assets held in brokerage accounts.

UNHON is strictly prohibited for U.S. persons to comply with U.S. securities laws, specifically Regulation S. The asset is designed for non-U.S. retail and institutional investors. To mint or redeem UNHON directly through the Ondo platform, users must pass Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks. However, once minted, the token can be traded peer-to-peer on-chain and through various exchange platforms.

UNHON is primarily traded on centralized exchanges like LBank and decentralized platforms that support Ondo Global Markets assets. While the underlying U.S. stock market operates on specific Wall Street hours, UNHON can be traded 24/7 peer-to-peer on-chain. It is important to note that primary market activities, such as minting and redeeming tokens directly with the issuer, are only available 24/5 to align with traditional market schedules.

To redeem UNHON tokens through the official application, users must submit a request which typically takes up to five business days to process. The proceeds from the redemption are sent to the user's verified non-U.S. bank account, usually in the form of stablecoins or USD. Because the process involves the liquidation of underlying traditional securities, the timeline is subject to the operating hours and settlement cycles of the U.S. financial system.
