Omni Network is a blockchain protocol designed to address the fragmentation of the Ethereum ecosystem. Its primary goal is to integrate various Ethereum rollups into a single, unified network, allowing developers to launch applications that are globally accessible across different layer two scaling solutions. By serving as an interoperability layer, it enables communication and liquidity movement between previously isolated rollup environments. The project is notable for its use of restaking technology, specifically leveraging Ethereum security via the EigenLayer framework. This approach allows the network to secure its cross-chain communications by utilizing staked ether, effectively extending the security of the Ethereum mainnet to its interoperability functions. The token formerly known as OMNI, now often categorized as Omni Network Old, served as the native utility asset for this ecosystem. Its primary functions included participating in network governance, paying for transaction fees across the integrated rollups, and providing incentives for the operators who maintained the network infrastructure. In September 2025, the project underwent a significant rebranding and structural change. The organization transitioned to a new identity called Nomina. As part of this evolution, the original OMNI token was migrated to a new native token under the ticker NOM. This migration involved a redenomination process where holders could exchange their original tokens for the new ones at a fixed ratio of one to seventy-five. The transition to Nomina was intended to simplify the user experience and further the project mission of achieving chain abstraction, where the complexities of interacting with multiple different blockchains are hidden from the end user. While the old OMNI token remains visible on many tracking platforms, the network ongoing development and primary utility have shifted to the new Nomina ecosystem and its associated NOM token.
