Ellipsis (EPS) was the native token for Ellipsis Finance, a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC). Its core function was to facilitate efficient and low-cost stablecoin exchanges, acting as the operational backbone for the platform. The platform itself aimed to provide a seamless environment for stablecoin swaps with minimal slippage and fees, a design heavily influenced by its authorized fork relationship with Curve Finance.
EPS served as a revenue-earning token designed to incentivize participation within the Ellipsis Finance ecosystem. Liquidity Providers (LPs) were primarily rewarded with EPS tokens for contributing their assets to the platform's liquidity pools. These rewards were structured with a vesting period to encourage long-term commitment. Additionally, stakers of EPS tokens also benefited, earning a share of the platform's fees, further aligning their interests with the success and stability of the Ellipsis Finance platform.
Ellipsis Finance was an authorized fork of Curve Finance, a leading decentralized exchange (DEX) on Ethereum known for its efficient stablecoin swaps. This affiliation was significant because it meant Ellipsis leveraged Curve's established and proven model for facilitating stablecoin exchanges. The authorization also implied receiving support from the Curve team, allowing Ellipsis to offer similar benefits such as no deposit or withdrawal fees and the absence of liquidity lock-ups, enhancing its appeal on the BNB Smart Chain.
Ellipsis migrated from EPS to EPX as part of a significant upgrade to Ellipsis 2.0. This transformation aimed to introduce enhanced functionalities and governance mechanisms that were not present in the old token. The new EPX token was designed to enable features like reward gauge voting, which allows holders to influence where emissions go; reward weight voting, for more granular control over incentives; and reward boosting mechanisms, providing additional benefits for locked token holders. This migration was crucial for advancing the platform's capabilities and sustainability.
During the token migration from the old EPS to the new EPX, users received a fixed conversion rate. For every 1 old EPS token they held, they were entitled to receive 88 new EPX tokens. This 1:88 ratio was established to facilitate the transition and re-balance the tokenomics in line with the Ellipsis 2.0 upgrade, ensuring a clear and consistent exchange for all participating users.
After the migration, the staking functionality previously associated with the old EPS token was seamlessly transferred to the new EPX token. This means that EPX holders can now continue to engage in staking, but with enhanced features. By locking their EPX tokens, users gain voting power, which is crucial for governance. They also receive a boost on their liquidity provision rewards and earn a proportion of the trading fees generated on the Ellipsis platform, continuing to incentivize active participation and long-term holding.
