Key technical components include biometric encryption, which requires private keys and biometric verification to decrypt data, and multi-party access control, allowing patients to grant temporary access to specific records securely. The native utility token of the ecosystem is BIOT. Users can earn BIOT tokens by interacting with the platform. These tokens can then be utilized to pay for services offered within the ecosystem, be staked in a staking pool, or used to purchase diagnostic kits, medical tourism packages, and other affiliated medical or beauty products and accommodations. The platform also incentivizes users for contributing anonymized health data to research institutions or pharmaceutical companies through a marketplace. Bio Passport launched its beta service for Android and iOS applications in the fourth quarter of 2020, followed by the initiation of business-to-business (B2B) contracts in the first quarter of 2021.
