Aave v3 sUSD, known by its token symbol ASUSD, is a stable asset operating within the Aave decentralized finance ecosystem. Aave is a non-custodial liquidity protocol that enables users to participate as suppliers and borrowers of various cryptocurrencies. The Aave V3 protocol represents an upgrade designed to enhance capital efficiency, strengthen risk management, and provide increased flexibility compared to earlier versions. When users supply sUSD to the Aave protocol, interest-bearing tokens called aSUSD are minted. These aSUSD tokens are designed to be pegged 1:1 to the value of the underlying sUSD that has been deposited. The balance of aSUSD tokens increases over time as interest accrues from borrowing activities within the pool. aSUSD tokens can be freely stored and transferred, and they are burned when redeemed for the underlying sUSD. Within the Aave protocol, suppliers can earn interest on their deposited assets and, optionally, use these supplied tokens as collateral for borrowing other assets. Borrowers can access liquidity by providing their supplied assets as collateral, maintaining an over-collateralized position. Aave V3 introduces features such as Efficiency mode (E-mode), which can enable users to potentially earn higher interest rates, and Isolation Mode, which allows for the secure listing of new or more volatile assets by limiting their use as collateral to borrow only specific assets, thereby containing risk. The protocol also employs improved interest rate models. Aave v3 sUSD primarily operates on the Optimism network.
