The Teleport System Token, often referred by its ticker TST, is the native utility and governance token for the TeleportDAO ecosystem. TeleportDAO is a decentralized infrastructure project focused on providing a trustless bridge between the Bitcoin network and Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum, as well as Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions. The core technology of the project relies on light-client verification. This mechanism allows the protocol to verify Bitcoin data on other blockchains without the need for central intermediaries or third-party trust. A decentralized network of nodes called Relayers submits Bitcoin block headers to the target chains, where they are finalized according to Bitcoin consensus rules. Two primary applications currently operate within this ecosystem. The first is TeleSwap, a decentralized protocol that enables the bridging and swapping of Bitcoin assets, including native BTC, BRC-20 tokens, and RUNEs, into decentralized wrapped assets on other chains. The second is TeleOrdinal, which serves as a cross-chain marketplace for Bitcoin NFTs, known as Ordinals. This platform allows users to purchase Bitcoin-based NFTs directly using ERC-20 tokens from various EVM blockchains. The TST token itself serves several functions within the network: 1. Revenue Sharing: Token holders can stake their TST to receive a portion of the transaction fees generated by the bridge and its associated protocols. 2. Collateral: Market participants known as Lockers must provide TST as collateral to ensure the security of the bridging process. This collateral acts as a guarantee for the decentralized custodianship of Bitcoin assets. 3. Governance: Holders can participate in the TeleportDAO by voting on key protocol decisions, such as adjusting fee structures, allocating treasury funds, or adding support for new blockchain networks. 4. Incentives: The token is used to reward participants who contribute to the growth of the network through referral programs or by providing liquidity in farming campaigns. The project was founded in early 2022 by Mahyar Daneshpajooh and Ali Saheli. It aims to increase the interoperability of Bitcoin by making its assets more accessible to the broader decentralized finance ecosystem.
