Scarcity (SCX) is an ERC-20 token that launched on the Ethereum blockchain in February 2021. It functions as a universal liquidity token within the Behodler Automated Market Maker (AMM). The Behodler AMM is a single-sided system where all token trades are routed through SCX, rather than using traditional token pairs. This design allows users to provide liquidity with a single asset, minting SCX, and then use SCX to redeem a different asset. The tokenomics of SCX are designed around the concept of scarcity and deflation. Its supply is algorithmic and adjusts based on the locked liquidity within the Behodler AMM. SCX is also a "burn-on-transfer" token when transactions occur outside of the Behodler platform, meaning a portion of the tokens are removed from circulation with increased trading activity. When SCX is redeemed for other tokens within Behodler, a small fee is also burned, which contributes to the growth of the overall liquidity pool. This mechanism is intended to increase the value of SCX over time by gradually reducing its supply and growing the underlying assets it represents. SCX facilitates efficient token swapping and aims to provide minimal impermanent loss compared to traditional multi-token liquidity pools. The project's goal is to attract and grow liquidity without relying on typical trading fees. SCX is utilized in various applications within the blockchain ecosystem, including Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), emphasizing the principle of limited resources in a digital economy. Initial milestones for Scarcity included its launch on February 19, 2021, followed by a major exchange listing in March 2021, the introduction of staking options in July 2021, reaching 10,000 unique wallet holders by September 2021, and the launch of its governance protocol in December 2021.
