What is QUICKSWAP [OLD] (QUICK)?

Quickswap [OLD] (QUICK) is the original native token of QuickSwap, a permissionless decentralized exchange (DEX) operating on the Polygon network. QuickSwap was launched in 2020 by Nick Mudge and Sameep Singhania. The platform leverages Polygon's Layer 2 scalability infrastructure to offer faster transaction times and lower fees compared to the Ethereum mainnet. QuickSwap functions as an Automated Market Maker (AMM) DEX, allowing users to swap ERC-20 tokens directly from their wallets. The "OLD" designation for the QUICK token refers to the original version of the token. In March 2022, QuickSwap's community voted to increase the token supply, leading to a 1:1000 token split. This resulted in the creation of a "New QUICK" token, with the "Old QUICK" token having limited utility on the DEX itself. Users are able to convert Old QUICK to New QUICK through a dedicated converter. The QUICK token (both old and new versions) serves multiple purposes within the QuickSwap ecosystem. It is primarily a governance token, enabling holders to create proposals and vote on various aspects concerning the protocol's operation. Additionally, QUICK tokens are used as rewards for liquidity providers who contribute to the platform's liquidity pools. Liquidity providers earn a percentage of trading fees and can also earn QUICK tokens through yield farming and liquidity mining programs. Staking QUICK tokens in the "Dragon's Lair" also allows users to earn a share of protocol revenue. QuickSwap aims to provide a user-friendly interface for trading and liquidity provision within the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. The project is community-governed, and its initial token distribution in 2021 reserved a significant portion of the total supply for the community, with no seed round, private round, pre-sale, or public sale.
