The NCR token is built on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token. Its primary purpose was to facilitate a decentralized in-world economy. The project also implemented a minting and staking system for early supporters and Patreon contributors to encourage platform growth and fund continued development. In early 2023, the majority of the original development team, including the lead designer and programmer, left Solirax due to disagreements regarding the management of the token and overall company direction. This team went on to launch a spiritual successor platform called Resonite in late 2023, which focuses on similar creative features but operates under a different organization and does not utilize the NCR token. By late 2025, the original Neos VR platform saw a substantial reduction in its service. Reports indicate that its official cloud services were eventually shut down and the application was delisted from major distribution platforms. While the NCR token remains on the blockchain, its practical utility has been impacted by the transition of the core community and development team to new projects.
