When Ethereum is sent to the frxETHMinter, an equivalent amount of frxETH is created. Simply holding frxETH does not accrue staking rewards; it is similar to holding native ETH. To earn staking yield, frxETH can be converted into Staked Frax Ether (sfrxETH). SfrxETH is a token that is compliant with the ERC-4626 standard and is designed to accumulate the staking yield generated by the Frax ETH validators. As the validators generate staking rewards, an equivalent amount of frxETH is added to the sfrxETH vault. This mechanism allows sfrxETH holders to eventually redeem their tokens for a larger quantity of frxETH than they initially deposited, effectively distributing the staking rewards among them proportionally. Leveraged frxETH (xfrxETH) is engineered to provide characteristics such as a low risk of liquidations and, in certain situations, a zero funding fee. Its value is connected to an underlying reserve token, and its operational mechanics are set up to deliver magnified returns if the price of Ethereum increases.
