Level Governance, or LGO, functions as the governance token for the Level Finance ecosystem. Level Finance is characterized as a decentralized and non-custodial perpetual exchange operating on the BNB Chain. Its primary focus lies in providing effective risk management and innovative liquidity solutions. Holders of the LGO token constitute the LEVEL DAO, which stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. This DAO is responsible for managing the entire Level Finance ecosystem and its treasury through the submission and voting on governance proposals. LGO token holders are essentially the stakeholders of the ecosystem, entrusted with making decisions concerning the project's strategic future. These responsibilities encompass aspects such as protocol expenditure, treasury management, the nomination of contributors, and control over protocol fees, features, functionalities, and security measures. To ensure a fair launch, there was no pre-allocation or pre-mining of LGO tokens. LGO tokens are primarily acquired by staking LVL tokens within the LEVEL DAO. Additionally, LGO holders have the option to stake their LGO tokens to earn a portion of the protocol fees. A percentage of the daily protocol fees are allocated to this LGO staking pool. The LEVEL DAO also plays a role as an asset manager for the ecosystem, overseeing the DAO Treasury. A portion of the protocol's revenue is directed to the DAO Treasury, which subsequently generates yields for LGO stakers. Liquid assets held within the treasury are available for redemption by LGO holders. The emission schedule for LGO can be adjusted via a DAO governance vote, underscoring the community's influence over the token's distribution. Initially, the Level team maintained control over governance to secure the protocol in its early stages, with a plan for a gradual decentralization as the community matures, aiming to reduce the team's share of LGO over time.
