It is intended to support various blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, the Internet Computer, and EVM-compatible networks like Ethereum, though it is currently in the refinement and testing phases. The ICL token is central to the ICLighthouse DAO, serving as its governance token. It also functions as a utility token within the ICDex project. ICL is an ICRC1 token issued on the IC network and is used for participating in governance decisions, acting as gas for decentralized applications (dApps), and providing ecosystem incentives. The project emphasizes community-driven development, with the ICLighthouse DAO empowering its community through staking and voting in decision-making processes. The ICLighthouse Team, based in Singapore, are key contributors to the project's codebase and have received multiple grants from the Dfinity Foundation for their work on various projects within the ecosystem, including ICTC, ICDex, and icRouter. Another component is ICHouse Explorer, which is a blockchain explorer for the Internet Computer. A unique distribution method for ICL tokens is through "donating Cycles," where a specified amount of ICL is distributed based on Cycles donated, which in turn are used to support ICLighthouse projects, provide liquidity for the DEX, and for ecological grants.
