The technology allows existing projects and communities to move tokenized assets seamlessly across blockchains to leverage advantages like faster speeds and lower costs on destination chains. Beyond simple token transfers, Wormhole's interoperability layer supports various use cases, including cross-chain exchanges, multi-chain games, and enabling decentralized applications (dApps) to operate across different networks. For example, it allows for native ETH and wrapped liquid staking tokens like wstETH to be transferred across various Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible chains with efficiency.
