The core mechanism of Eigenpie is isolated liquid restaking. When users deposit liquid staking tokens such as stETH from Lido or rETH from Rocket Pool, the platform issues specific isolated liquid restaked tokens, often prefixed with an m, such as mstETH. This isolated approach is designed to segregate risks associated with different liquid staking tokens. Unlike protocols that pool various assets into a single token, Eigenpie ensures that the performance and security risks of one asset do not directly affect others in the platform. By restaking through Eigenpie, participants can earn multiple layers of rewards. These include the underlying Ethereum staking rewards and additional rewards from the EigenLayer ecosystem. Because the resulting tokens are liquid, users can still utilize them across various decentralized finance applications for activities like lending, borrowing, or providing liquidity while their original assets remain restaked. The EGP token is the native utility and governance token for the Eigenpie platform. Its primary function is to allow holders to participate in the decision-making processes of the protocol through a decentralized autonomous organization. Users can lock their EGP tokens to receive vote-locked EGP, which grants them voting rights and eligibility for a share of the platform rewards. This locking mechanism involves a cooldown period for those who wish to convert their locked tokens back into a liquid state. Eigenpie operates across multiple blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, and BNB Smart Chain, providing a multi-chain experience for users.
