What is CRYPTOZOO (ZOO)?

CryptoZoo (ZOO) was a Web3 project marketed as an "autonomous ecosystem" for collecting, breeding, and trading exotic hybrid animals using non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. Co-founded by YouTuber Logan Paul, the project aimed to combine elements of cryptocurrency, NFTs, decentralized finance (DeFi), GameFi, and the metaverse to make these technologies more accessible. The project officially launched on September 1, 2021. Within the CryptoZoo ecosystem, users would purchase NFT eggs using the native utility token, $ZOO. These eggs were intended to hatch into various animal NFTs. The game mechanics described that users could then breed these animal NFTs to create unique hybrid animal NFTs, with the idea that these hybrids would yield $ZOO tokens. The $ZOO token itself is a BEP-20 token operating on the Binance Smart Chain. Despite an initial roadmap that outlined future games and metaverse integration, these promised features never materialized, and a playable game was not released. CryptoZoo became the subject of significant controversy and was widely regarded as a failure. Investigations, notably by YouTuber Coffeezilla, raised concerns about the project's functionality and alleged that it did not deliver on its promises despite substantial funding. Allegations included claims of unpaid developers and the project being abandoned. Lawsuits were subsequently filed against CryptoZoo and Logan Paul.
