Bedrock, or BR, is a crypto and Web3 project identified as the world's first multi-asset liquidity restaking protocol. Its main purpose is to allow users to maximize their earnings from digital assets while maintaining the ability to use those assets. The protocol supports staking of various cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), and IoTeX (IOTX). When users stake these assets, they receive liquid tokens such as uniETH, uniBTC, uniIOTX, and brBTC. This mechanism, known as Proof of Staking Liquidity (PoSL), integrates both staking and governance functionalities. BR is the native governance and utility token of the Bedrock ecosystem. It plays a role in driving ecosystem incentives, enabling participation in governance, and enhancing liquidity provision. Holding BR tokens gives users the ability to influence the future direction and development of the Bedrock protocol. Furthermore, users can stake their BR tokens to obtain veBR, which stands for vote-escrowed BR. This veBR grants increased voting power within the Bedrock governance system and can also lead to higher staking rewards. In late 2024, Bedrock introduced brBTC, an innovative liquid restaking token that aims to unify fragmented yield opportunities and expand Bitcoin's utility within decentralized finance, marking a shift towards what is called the BTCFi 2.0 era. The project operates across numerous blockchains, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Arbitrum, and works with many DeFi partners to improve cross-chain liquidity and utility. Bedrock was initially launched in March 2023 by the infrastructure provider RockX.
