It operates as a crypto-collectible game primarily on the Polygon blockchain, having migrated from Ethereum due to high transaction fees, with future plans to include Base. The core of Aavegotchi revolves around digital avatars called Aavegotchis, which are unique Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Each Aavegotchi is depicted as a pixelated ghost and possesses unique attributes that contribute to its rarity score. These attributes include randomized traits, equipped wearables, a kinship score reflecting player interaction, and the amount of Aave-powered aTokens staked to the avatar. This staking mechanism means that Aavegotchis are not just collectibles but also yield-generating assets, as they are backed by interest-bearing tokens. The GHST token serves as the native utility and governance token within the Aavegotchi ecosystem. It is used for various in-game transactions, such as purchasing Aavegotchis, portals (which allow players to summon new Aavegotchis), wearables, consumables, and digital land parcels called REALM within the Aavegotchi metaverse, known as the Gotchiverse. GHST holders also have voting power in the AavegotchiDAO, the decentralized autonomous organization that governs the project and influences its future development. Gameplay in Aavegotchi involves nurturing these digital pets. Players can enhance their Aavegotchis' rarity and traits through activities like participating in mini-games, equipping wearables, and consistent interaction. A key feature is "rarity farming," where players are rewarded for cultivating the rarest Aavegotchis. The Gotchiverse is an expansive virtual world where Aavegotchis can explore, craft, battle, and socialize, and where landowners can farm in-game resources.
