KCAL is also used to repair sneakers that have worn out from use, level up gear to increase earning potential, and open loot chests that contain various in-game rewards. The project is built on the Step Network, an Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible blockchain specifically designed to support high-scale lifestyle and consumer applications. This dedicated network provides the infrastructure for the entire ecosystem, including the Step Wallet, a decentralized exchange called Step Ex, and a project launchpad. This infrastructure allows for fast and low-cost transactions, facilitating the frequent micro-transactions typical of a fitness-based digital economy. Step App has gained notable attention through high-profile partnerships, most significantly with world-renowned sprinter Usain Bolt, who serves as a global brand ambassador.
